Vinny v
i went 26th i found 99% of them over priced Just got back from the show and feel somewhat dissapointed. I was expecting a lot more especially as i was looking to buy a gun. most guns were normal prices with little incentive to buy. crowded so checking fit was difficult and having any adjustments made almost impossible. Only a handful of stands having any real selection of guns and i did not even see stands from top brand shotgun manufacturers advertising their latest goodies. Perhaps it was just me being grumpy !?!?!?!?!?! V

I don't think you are being grumpy, i just think that the traders at the show tend to take advantage of the punters - i heard the Midland was the same last year - nothing new or cheaper than the web. just my view. It probably costs a few quid to have a stand there and I suppose they are going to try to recoup some of that. Always a struggle to get a bargain once the ticket price is included anyway I've found. I was just really looking forward to the show and put off buying a gun for several months as I thought I'd get a bargain. Sco77w
I went today in the hope of picking up a safe. the one I saw were more expensive than what I can get from the internet even with the delivery factored in. Also thought I get a good look at what shotguns were around as I'm expecting to buy one in the next couple of weeks (license app pending) but was so dissapointed. I wrongly assumed it was going to be the shooting answer to the NEC Bike show, where I can see what the manufacturers have to offer and usually pick up a bargain or 2. I don't think I'll be going next year.

The Duncan
The lack of competetive prices and rude, grumpy, overcrowded punters put me and family off when we last went a couple of years ago, hence not bothering last year or this. It's reassuring to know things haven't changed. Worse thing is, this year I would have had more money burning a hole in my pocket for a nice gun , than when I last went. Hey ho! Saved myself 60 quid in fuel and entrance for 4 so I can justifiably add that to the budget for my upcoming purchase? I'll try that one on with Mrs D I hope some of you at least got something out of the show! Cheers and all the best, Duncan
white flash
Hi mates.Went there on sat what a load of rubbish. My Mate had a stand in the fly fishing couple of years ago. They would not allow him to go any more because he was selling stuff to cheap and other stall holders could not match his prices so they complained and got him stopped. What happened to freedom of choice and a bargain. The price of entry fee is becoming to expensive for the working man.Buy the time you pay your fuel costs and entry fees you can buy much more in your local gun and fishing shop or over the internet.Guess where i am not going next year.Cheers

The Duncan
£5 pound for a burger and a cuppa what a rip off , When we went a couple of years ago, a really nice, juicy (big) venison burger was £3.50 and it was bleedin' delicious! Not a bad price given the quality. Even now makes me hungry thinking of it. Time to sort out my variation for a .308! Next year I'm taking a Vat of my irresistible rabbit stew and another of Chilli con Coney. If the price it right, I reckon I'll clean up! Vinny v
I'm fealing increasingly pleased at the fact I didn't buy a shotgun! at the show !! Think I'll have a look at local shops if anyone can recommend one in the Mansfield area. Looking for one with time to fit and adjust accordingly at reasonable cost. Alex C
I was loooking for a cheap rough shooting gun which to be fair i finally found in the end with a Lincoln. However the time it took to rake through the piles of rubbish, to find something which didnt look like it had been buried in someones back garden for 10 years, was unreal. Not worth the high entry price as most of the stuff was higher priced than a good search on the internet. Wont be going back

Salop Matt
I do seem to see alot of negitive about this and have to admit I agree with small parts but on the hole i found it very good ! I bought HMR Hornaday 17grn red tip at £10 a box (normally £14 ish)Brock & Norris A lightforce red filter 140 for £12 (seem to be on the web at £19) A battery pack carryer form ogdens that i was really impressed with for £20 (photos to follow) A leather/chamis leather type bag for me to put spare mags and ammo in when shooting A clue light dimmer £20 ( debens are £39 i belive) So I feel I had a good day. There were plenty of other things I wanted but need to save my cash for the work i am having on my rapid. The way I see it is plenty of folk go to footy matches etc and the like and I suspect that at a big match a burger and brew would set you back nearly £10 not £5 that we pay at these events ! and am sure a match ticket must cost mor thatn £15 and that is only for 3 hours. Have to say that the dryness was much appreciated being under cover ! So I for one will be going again next year ! better than a day rotting in front of the TV when its raining ! Mick Shaw
Here Here, I also enjoyed the show, I bought a few small bargins,(you had to shop around) And traded in my old s.b.s for a good price against a new Caesar Guerini 28 bore, very good service from Kevin Gill on the Guerini stand, and overall a very good show.and if you are not happy about paying £5 for a burger, take sandwiches, like lots of people I saw. I will be going again next year for sure.
