busdennis
how many of your pigeons are dead before they hit the deck as lately ive had very few. i know it depends on many variables, so if mr average with average gun with average skill and average cartridges decoys out to 40 strides, how many birds dead in the air? With most people it's around 75%. You might want to think about your gun fit, cartridge choice and the range at which you are firing. In the long run, it'll be worth it as you won't have to half-ruin your hide trying to run out of it after pigeons half the time. Dekers
Are you looking for the average? Being honest, what point is that, if you shoot in the right place they will all be dead, if you don't, like the majority of shooters some will not...is there an acceptable level because it is average, well, probably not, but it happens, practice more and don't stretch yourself! I don't think there is such a thing as average, far to many variables.... somedays all seem to fold, other days more runners... just me not hitting them right. If it's a regular part of your days shooting , then maybe you need to go and practice on some clays and sharpen up your shooting. And if your killing zone is 40 yds out, i think it's abit far.... i normally have the killing area at about 25 yds with the farthest bird at about 40 yds to give an idea of range of incomers/crossers. In other words don't try to shoot at extreme range, shot them where it's more certain and you have got the chance of a follow up shot should you miss. dave
