NickP
Nice gun, was recommended it by my local dealer, bit more than I want to pay when my licence comes through, but if it fits it's going to be a wise purchase, as reviews do say lot of gun for the money
Thunderbird
Luke that has to depend on what you want it for. Clays then definitely yes. Mind you there is only about half a pound of difference in weight. I have mounted both and reckon the sporter feels better. But that's just for me. n9luke
Well I do very little on the clays, it would be more for game and pigeons, I want it as an all rounder, I have found out that the local shop has both the sporter and the field so I will see which one suits me before I make a decision Thanks for the advice mate Luke

Thunderbird
"why not go Optibore?" His prayer was answered in the Sporter!
Spara Dritto
Must now be a happy chappy now they just need to lighten the barrels and the perfect gun!! Edited March 4, 2011 by Beretta Italy
Thunderbird
On the 30" Sporter the barrels are lighter - balance point is behind the pin. I'm telling you it's a thing of beauty, makes me a little tingly just thinking about it. That's it, Im taking the day off and going shooting. Spara Dritto
Sorry thunder, i Meant to say in Michaels opnion they still need to lighten the barrels on the field gun. But i personally like the slightly heavier barrels on a field gun it allows you a smooth swing but still light enough for walking around with. Both beautiful guns and you wont go wrong! garden gun
Shooting UK has a review of this gun too. VERY favourable - as soon as I get medical issues sorted then SGC is the target and the SP1 (have shot the SP Universal) must be in the frame as a gun to consider. Thunderbird
I really should say more than that shouldn't I? Swings really well, comes up really well, nice crisp trigger pull, lovely balance, great visibility on the targets, not too stiff to load/unload, looks the part. Missed about one in ten with it! Got back to read the Shootung UK review and agree 100%, great gun at a great price. I'm well happy. Spara Dritto
I love the feeling after you have made a good purchase, hope it works well. Its a little unlucky you missed out on the 10 year free warrenty and 1 year free liability insurance, but i think you can still buy for 40 -80 quid, dont quote me but its deffinatly worth doing. Vinny v
Wow..... I've just read through this thread and although I have had my SGC for some time I have yet to find a gun with a review and price which makes me want to rush out and check it out myself. Seems this could be the one..... I'm at work tomorrow but very conveniently the gun shop is about a 3 minute walk away..... V
Spara Dritto
This review is for the field version not the clay version, 2 Completly different guns.
Thunderbird
No matey the latest Shooting UK review is the sporter. "Beretta Silver Pigeon Grade 1 shotgun: If something is too good to be true then there’s almost always a catch, and I reckon this maxim applies to Beretta’s new Silver Pigeon 1 Sporter" The bead on the Sporter is a small white one, perfect for me as I don't have any eye issues. I can stand those glowy things. I shot it again yesterday, getting really used to it now and after 180 rounds it feels second nature despite being completely different from my other gun. Gordon R
I have yet to read a review which made me inclined to rush out and buy the gun. They very rarely say anything detrimental about the guns. The reviews are little more than free adverts. At the end of the day, it's just their opinion. Give the gun to a different expert - no doubt they wouldn't say the same. The standard gun will not suit everyone. I smile when I read that the barrels could be a fraction lighter, or the stock heavier.
