Out today at the crack of dawn. Set up in a ditch in the middle of a field of rape. I thought I'd try one of the methods mentioned on an earlier topic, as there was no way of hiding in a hedge.

So, there I was in a dyke/ditch, camouflage netting all about, desperately trying to keep the hide, (if only), from blowing over, yet still keeping a letterbox at the front from which to shoot.

Nothing for the first half hour, then in they come. Unfortunately, as the first pattern comes in, I raise myself off the banks edge, only to be met with a wadge of camouflage netting obscuring the view!

Testicles, try again on the next flight, but miss.

That was it then for the next 2 hours.

The 7 P's come to mind once again!

You're not trying hard enough.

Get a demented spaniel to sit in the hide next to you. At the first shot the spaniel (trained to a 'T') will run in, taking the hide and ancillaries with it.

Then you will know the full joys of decoying using a hide. Especially after the spaniel has done this three shots in a row.

Mans best friend they are.
