Infra red filter or red filter

I have one of Lidl's night vision monocular with a built in small infra red light. I have been using this for spotting rabbits, then shooting with a Deben Mini scope mounted light. If i shone a lamp with an infra red filter or a red filter while spotting, would this improve the night vision a lot, or is the monocular got a limit to what it can do ?

The more light you can give it the better but even an IR filter for a scope light can be expensive and you could easily pay well over 100 quid (way way over) for a decent laser illuminator.

The light on the monocular is really only good for a few yards. Experiment a bit.

I just bought a NV addon (Pulsar) and was surprised at how good it is but it still needs supplementary light.
