danb21t
Someone else posted about the 'late night'/evening events which will be starting up at Churchills. Starting this thread to keep a rolling invitation to see if people want to meet up for a particular event. I'm definitely interested in the Thursday evening 50 sporting. But also up for the Wednesday events; multi sport. Obviously its a couple of weeks away yet but I will revisit this thread each week to see if there is any interest for that week. nick_c
Hello, it all depends on where I am working, but I am up for it. Went a few times last year, top ground. Nick.
Radar_uk
I would be up for a few evenings if work permits
danb21t
Bit late notice, anyone going up tomorrow. BBC say it will be very warm and looks to be sunny all day. Could be a nice evening for a blat! I'll be going if my friend is game.
Catamong
This Thursday evening they are running a 100 bird Registered shoot, £30 entry fee, £75 High Gun, can't be bad. They've gone from one extreme to the other, firstly pricing themselves out of the reach of the average Punter, to now being probably the cheapest for Registered events, how odd, a "Nick Clegg" style U turn..?? I hope to be there, work permitting. Cat.

Do you have to be registered to shoot that? Or can I just turn up, pay me ££'s and enjoy the shoot? £30 for 100 birds aint all that bad and could do with a session before the Masters on Friday..... Dunkield
It does seem remarkable value for them. Have to say though, 2-6pm isn't what I call 'late night' though
al4x
much later and it would be dark though
Dunkield
Yeah, believe it or not, I have managed to work out it gets dark each night and then light again the following morning It gets dark about 8pm currently, I guess 6pm is last card not last shot. They used to do grouse evenings, from memory that was later in the year so they were able to shoot later.

If they play it by the rules, non CPSA members pay a "Day Pass", I think it's £3.50. Cat.
danb21t
well it looks like my buddy has arranged to have himself out of the office tomorrow at 3.30. We will be heading up at approx 4pm for a bit of multisport I think.
twitchynik
Just spoke to Churchills about the Thursday late night registered shoot. Can be shot unregistered and there's no day pass or green fee - just the £30 for 100 targets. First entry 2pm, last one at 6pm. I'll be there about 5ish Anyone for anymore? nick_c
Went there tonight, tried skeet for the first time, got 20. really enjoyed it was hoping to do another round but ran out of time. Also enjoyed the grouse butt, scored 16. Nice evening out, Nick.
danb21t
I was there at 5 prompt, and was there until 7:30ish. Shot a round of multi sport, DTL, and then finished on 2 rounds of grouse. Grouse is excellent, reallly enjoyed it - although I have an unfair advantage being 6'
JonD
Nick, think myself and Phil may have shot with you about 5:30 ish? Well, since they dropped the £8.50 a round for skeet back to £5 they have gone wireless, it's seriously ****. There is a good .5 -.75 second delay after pressing the button before the trap activates and sends the bird which is seriously off putting, the birds obviously hadn't been hooped as the high was about a foot to the right of the peg in still conditions but not good. Add in the sea of broken orange clays by the high house causing problems picking up the clays on 2,3,4 and 5 to an extent. I shot 15 the first round which having checked is my lowest score for over a year at skeet, second was a 22 which was below par, the slow pulls really caught me out. Jon. twitchynik
Well that was enjoyable Got there earlier than expected (24th out) and went round with a local. Good range of targets with nothing silly and some fantastic weather. Shall definitely be doing that again even tho I shot like a tart (stands 3 and 8 did for me)
danb21t
unfortunately I will not be attending any shoots at Churchill's this week.
danb21t
Will probably be up there for a couple of rounds of skeet tomorrow if anyone is interested. Got a round left over from last week, so a perfect excuse to go back up.
Dunkield
It's probably worth a mention to anyone who hasn't been there before that for sporting at least you have to wear era protection, eye protection and a hat. The first two were compulsory last time I shot there the hat was new addition to the safety equipment list, but having been hit by shards of clays last week I can see why the insist on it. I got thumped in the back by a busted clay waiting to shoot one stand and must have been hit by another that I didn't even feel, when I got in it was pointed out I had blood on my shirt collar and a slice in one of my ears - nice
