sitsinhedges
Natural graphite is a lubricant but synthetic graphite is an abrasive so make sure you get the natural if you go on ebay.

Floating Chamber
There is a trade secret (19th Century) to tumbling and 'graphiting' lead shot that I have only been told of lately. It takes 10 seconds to highly polish a batch of shot.

Floating Chamber
The age old process (and apparently closely guarded secret) came to light very recently when some old documents were found at an auction. They were perused by some, but went missing before the auction. The process involved using bruised raw garlic. Has anyone heard of this? My phone pic picked up most of the manuscript but some is out of focus. Edit: more de-cyphered: It mentions stickiness and electrostatic properties. snarepeg
Flavour of the month that shot Allan. Do you get a better price from the game dealer for ready spiced? Weather warming up. lots of lead ready to roll. May all your little balls be round and dimple free, (not holding my breath on that one) happy shot dropping to all, and where as SEB got to of late?. Floating Chamber
I think he has the wrong dept. It will BE A SHAME if this thread is deleted. We are on the brink of solving a very old mystery of why lead shot can be polished in seconds. Can you delete the FIRST post and transfer it back to 'Bullets.....'?
