Lord Geordie
Has anyone esle got one of these scraps of paper covered in Viva ****?? Who the F do they think they are :< Quotation from the leaflet posted through my door "Britains Hardest working Mum. She is Pregnant 9 month a year Produces gallons of milk at the same time Has her newborn babies taken from her and it happens year after year. No wonder she'd exhausted hungry emaciated and depressed" They are talking about a COW for crying out loud where the hell do they come up with this dribble? :< Then on the back it says (and i quote) "Britains hardest working mother can look forward to chronic mastitis painful lameness and she'll be lucky to live one quarter of her 20 year plus years. She doesn't want a card and a bunch of flowers-she just wants YOU to stop drinking her milk. This animal rights b0ll0x has gone too far i mean come on this is a joke right??? Have these people not read the Bible and Gods word? Genesis 8:9 And god went on to bless Noah and his sons and to say to them: "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth. And a fear of you and a terror of you will continue upon every living creature of the earth and upon every flying creature of the heavens, Upon everything that goes moving on the ground, and upon all the fishes of the sea,. THEN he goes on to say Into your hand they are now given. Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to you. In other words we have GODS premission to use these animals AS food and FOR food so where do these t0ssp0ts get the gaul to tell us to stop :< As you can tell i am furious and need to go get a cold bath  Make of this what you will but it is really peeing me off LG Edited March 24, 2006 by Lord Geordie
al4x
they do ramble on but there are a few points. Milk production isn't that great for the cow or calves. Especially while beef exports were banned bull calves were being put down in many cases when they were born, just because the cow has to have a calf to produce milk. More concerning though is organic milk production where they can have mastitis for longer and they try to avoid treating it so they keep the milk organic. Having worked on a few farms there are quite a few things that could put you off drinking milk
Lord Geordie
I worked on a farm for 3 years but it annoys me when people try forcing THEIR beleifs onto others. As for the Calves most were shipped for Veal to the continent till the BSE scare Oh and the only milk I don't drink is when it goes lumpy  Not a great deal puts me off anything luckily i will have ti hide this from my Son though as he is at an impressionable age LG
al4x
its the filters for Mastitis lumps that used to put me off! but that letter is totally misleading and generalises the industry just putting bad points accross. Total propaganda it would be far better spent lobbying for supermarkets to increase their payment to farmers for milk so the cows could be reared less intensively and focus more on welfare
Lord Geordie
The farm i worked on was small and only had 1 milking station the filter was a simple affair as it was for personal comsumption they only had 4 cows Hand milking the Goats We tried hand milking the cows but they had a habit of trodding in the bucket  After a year on that farm i went to a agricultural farm for over a year then back to horticulture at a later date. Even spent time working in a chicken farm not my cup of tea And a turkey farm for a month over the christmas period All work and it was good to try it all out. al4x
Exactly its good to know where it comes from. We used to do work for a company that used to make the batter coatings etc for processed chickens and turkeys etc. I had the misfortune of going to a few Bernard mathews plants and thats enough to put you off chicken nuggets for life. You just can't beat locally reared food on small farms or shooting it yourself for the knowledge its been reared properly or in the wild
Dave-G
Now that beef exports can recommence maybe the farmer will be more able to make a decent living from his farm and be a little less intensive on the milk production
henry d
LG - Get down Northumberland St tomorrow and get it out of your system with the bunny huggers that frequent it ,usually outside McD`s or BK,and tellthem what you think and that you have the full backing of millions of animal abusers in the UK and that Veggy/Veganism is going down the tubes and rightly so...................................and that I told you to say so
