John_R
I would suggest the heaviest soft point or hollow point that your gun will shoot straight.
stokie
I use remmington 55 grain soft point
Beardo
Samson 55gr hollow points shoot well in my Titan 3 and work very well on both fox and muntjac. As said a good soft point is another option or a ballistic tip. As theres not too much meat around the shoulder it's not critical that you keep the damage down. Hi, I reload berger 52 grain match varmint bullets, do you think they would be ok. or should I zero for a soft point?
Beardo
I don't see why not, though they might be a bit messy if your shot placement wasn't spot on
al4x
use a 55grn or above soft point, if you are going heart lung shots ballistic tips in .223 seem to do too much damage, you don't have that much leeway before you puncture the rumen which is best avoided if possible. You have the issue that you ideally want to position the shot just behind the shoulder and from there a little bit of bullet fragmentation can easily spread a long way. I learned that the hard way, fine if for your own consumption but you do need a fair constitution to want to eat it afterwards
highseas
or just head/neck shoot them
