Barney86
Hello, I've been fixing a Betinsoli 12g O/U, which sometimes refuses to fire the second barrel. I have switched to 21gram carts, and there doesnt seem to be enough recoil to reset the trigger reliably. Now, I know I can probably polish the sears until it gets reset by a primer, but how light can the average gun take before it starts to get tempromental? Just wondering Cheers Edited April 25, 2011 by Barney86
Spara Dritto
Hull Comp x 21g 7.5 plastic wad loads are really good try them out. They are the lightest "non subsonic" recoiling cartridges you can buy. Edited April 27, 2011 by Beretta Italy
Mark-70
When I put snap caps in my gun, after fireing the first barrel a small slap on the butt plate is enough to to set the next barrel. Based on that I would of thought any cartridge should be more than enough however light the load. Gun is a Miroku MK70.
HDAV
Any O/U gun should cycle 21g clay loads and subsonics.
seeker
I'm no gunsmith but it sounds like two different things. 1. polishing the sears to reduce trigger pull weight ... or 2. adjusting the inertia block spring to work with lower recoil cartridges? If 1 .... go careful - gets more than tempremental pretty quick! if 2, then I believe those who use the smaller gauge tubes in a 12 can set them down for 410 .. with change/ adjustment of the spring/weight. (check some U S sites) (lite enuf??) If its intermittent problem then a good clean, degrease, then a dab of grease on the contact point of the block ... Barney86
Cheers folks. I've done some reading and this problem is typical of Bettinsoli guns apparently. I think I'll shorten the name to BS! As mentioned, most guns with snap-caps will need a gentle tap on the butt to get it to reset. I can give this a hard thump and nothing happens. Seeker - the idea of polishing was to remove burrs from the sear/inertia block contact, to ensure it can move away (backwards) easily. I'm staying away from anything that may lighten the pull because as well as this problem, the 'BS' is apparently also prone to double discharging! It is easy to see why there are so many problems, the gun isn't particularly old, and things are wearing away already! I'm glad this one didn't cost much
