Late spring barley.

For the last week or so I'd stopped taking pigeon shooting clients for this spring as I start Roebuck stalking (shot 8 so far). I had a call from a regular client at the start of the week asking if she could get a day as she was up in Edinburgh on business. I said yes but told here the birds are well spread out just now so wasn't sure what the day would be like. I do get a few farms that drill late and a couple that have still got barley to go in yet. The fields right next to our B&B were drilled 8 days ago and on Wednesday this week the birds started using the fields, with a good 500 there when we arrived this morning!

Linda shot my best bag of the 2010 spring period with 172.

And on the last day of my 2011 spring period today she's bagged the best total again with 168 on the clicker for 277 shots!

Now back to some stalking!

Mark.

What a great lass and a great bag well done Mark and Linda most of our spring drilling is failing due to the lack of rain here in the south I can see some late spring peas being drill ASAP.

Thanks guys. :good:

I've had a handfull of poor days as would be expected but on a whole it's been a very good spring with plenty of pigeons about.

It's hard work to do single handed but after another 3 weeks of stalking i'm off for a sunny holiday with the family! B)

Cheers,

Mark.

This was a great day, I was in two minds whether to stay up in Edinburgh for another night away from Dave or drive home to South Yorkshire. I contacted Mark to see if he had any pigeons, Mark said that we would give it a go. So I do not need to be encouraged too much if there are pigeons about. We shoot alot of clays also, around 300 cartridges per week but to me nothing beats sitting in a hide with the anticipation of pigeons. Pigeons to me are the best targets, they come from all angles and any direction, I had 1300 pigeons last year, shooting at pigeonalldaylong.com & my dads 3 farms. Thanks Mark for a great day I expected 30/40 not 168. Linda

Hi Mike, We are off to CPSA Grange Farm on Sunday, I won B Class last time out 90/100 so I will have some prize money to pick up.

I am trying for the England Selection shoots, but need to do better... so we wont be seeing you very much, this summer. We will be back next winter. X Linda
