Pigeon Paul
Set up yesterday at 5pm shot 25 by 6.30pm. They decoyed very well. Best session ive had for ages. What height are the peas at?? I ask because on one of my permissions they have planted approx 20 acres of peas about 5 weeks ago and this has only just started to sprout. I have been keeping an eye on it weekly but only the crows from the local pig farm seem interested at the moment?
Mightymariner
Peas round me, Lincs Wolds are very patchy and generally a few inches, possibly because of incredibly dry conditions. I'm off on some rape tomorrow which has a whole patch been attacked all winter and never shot. Fingers crossed.
ESSEX ROB
The peas are about 8-9 inches high.
shoughton
Same height as on my permissions. But there are newer peas not far away and they appear to have stolen my birds! Should be back soon once it all evens up. Steve
proTOM1
Nice bag for few hours ,not much happening on my peas tho got 2 different types 1 vine and 1 harvest peas makes a fair bit of diference i find . they seem to like the harvest peas for a start then go mad for both types when they come in to flower and pod
Cranfield
Its very quiet on my peas at the moment, most of them are between 3 and 6 inches high. Two new fields of late peas are being drilled today, so they may draw the birds for a while. I agree that they certainly seem to prefer one type of pea better than the others, harvest peas are the best and vining peas seem to get mostly ignored round here. Mungler
You should always give peas a chance

motty
I find that pigeons like harvest/vining peas equally. The harvest peas tend to grow alot taller and are a pain to shoot over when in pod. I will hopefully have around 1200 acres of vining peas this year and 100 acres of harvest. I think it depends more on which areas the peas are in and what other crops are available to the pigeons than what type of pea it is, as to whether pigeons will hit the crop.
