Lord Geordie
Best to get a Secondhand one thats been modded as most the tinkering has been done for you mate. I had one and it was fine for hunting but needed a Valve job and alloy hammer fitted to gain anything LIKE consistant shots as from the box they were all over the place both on PAPER and on the Chrony I sent my Valve off to Leupy from the BBS and he bored it out and fitted O-rings for me etc and got an alloy hammer from a guy in wales called Tim and the rifle was spot on. Stock silencer is naff and needed baffles fitted (40mm waste pipe and 40mm washers from B&Q and some electricians tape sorted that All in all a cracking gun once fettled but there is a second hand one on the BBS from Karlgixer for £150 i beleive with some minimal mods and a steal at that price. Hunter
Funny this topic is up, I jsut got back from a hunt with the Stealth. This week I have shot 5 rabbits, and 4 squirrels. Everyone apart from a squirrel was one shot one kill very pleased with tthe stealth. I got up today at 11 and headed out to the forest. 10 minutes in, and I had snuck up to a squirrel digging for breakfast amongst the leaves and nailed it while busy looking for hidden seeds and nuts. 25 minutes later after crossing a field into the farm next to my house, I dropped a wopper of a huge rabbit (2 the day before also that size) with just one shot through the neck, and barely a twitch. Took him home, skinned and gutted. Had a break, ate a pizza, and headed out again. I dropped one rabbit in almost the same spot, and also went down like a sack of spuds. Then a following rabbit on my walk home, which I have just finished cleaning up, and the pair added to the 3 others in my freezer. A very good sunday! 3 rabbits, and 1 squirrel, the previous two days saw 2 rabbits and 4 squirrels. Good for hunting? ooooo yeahh.. but the Stealth takes a while to get used to before it gets fun. I had troubles with it in the begining, and its now going very well
flash
did you have to mod it like other people have said or was good stragiht out of the box. flash
Lord Geordie
You CAN get lucky straight from the box i personally found them too inconsistant from standard but Fun to use and to tweak and sort. As with a lot of modern PCP guns they just design and build them ship them out without really sending it into the field for a PROPPER test As i say for a minimum investment i would DEF get a used one already worked up. rarms
I would not recommend a Stealth, I had one, modded it in many ways and it was still a pants gun compared to any other PCP on the market. It is not the easiest to load in the dark, it is basic in function and struck me as far too agricultural for the money. Hunter
The Stealth is the easiest gun to load ever. Push the bolt forward, and push a pellet into the extruding barrel in the bolt port. Could do it blind folded.. Flash, this stealth does have lots of mods, but nothing hard to get hold of :o
mr_jack
the stealth looks like a nice piece of kit as does the as200, if i was going to buy any of these i would go for the stealth.... i like the way it can be stripped down
Hunter
It has to be one of the most easy maintaince and best relaibility guns out there. No regulaters, only 2 ''O" ring seals that are dead easy to change every once in a while.. and highly modifiable. :o just the way I like guns.. Davrian
Surprised to hear the old comments of lack consistency still going about! bought my Stealth 2000 new from manufacturers 2 years ago, It's important to get the 2000 model or newer because these got the Walther barrels and sorted probs from earlier model. Are people really having problems with the 2000? Same hole accuracy at 30 yards, still quite good at 75 yards, and its totally legal and unmoded, I'm considering making a brass hammer and fettling it, also wood stocks but this is only cause I can't leave things alone! Nothing wrong with mine straight out of the box. Easy to drop bunnies, had two facing away from each other about 20 yards out, dropped one reloaded dropped the other, both nice clean head shots and just fell over no twitch! ...... oh and mines .177! Wouldn't mind a .22 Stealth as well.
Dave-G
Sharp intake of breath - it looks like a rocket launcher according to some plods... see this: http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111964 Edited April 7, 2006 by Dave-G
Davrian
Well they have lowered standards to get people join the police force! I guess you just have to improve your field skills so you don't get spotted?
SNAKEBITE
Well I can see their point on having to react to a phone call from the public, and agree with it fully. However ther is a point where common sense should take over. Once the gun has been identified as an AIR RIFLE then it should be job done. Let's face it, it is not hard to identify an air rifle is it? The only thing that is impressive is the speed they got the gun back to the bloke. Least they could do really.
