Asa Bear
A very different temperament! For me working ability aside, it's the laid back friendly temperament of labs that is the reason that they are the most popular breed of dog in the UK and why I keep them. I have heard Chesapeake's can be aggressive and very protective over house and handler even towards other family members. They do make good water/guard dogs! I had heard they were very aloof and that their temperament was more akin to a German Shepherd. However my CBR has been with me from a pup, he has been well socialised with all manner of dogs and he is a lovely dog. He behaves well with the wife & my two boys and welcomes visitors like they've come to see him. He gets lots of comments when out walking and laps up the praise & fuss from strangers. He is more independent than the retrievers or spaniels I have had before but great nonetheless.
Zapp
I've got a CBR and she is the soppiest attention whore you will ever meet, but a good worker when out in the field.
