sixhills 69
Hi I was sat over a cup of coffee with my land owner discousin this and that about the farm an troubles with travellers. When came a question i could not answer so i am looking for members on this sectin that know what they are talking about The question was do they make a ballistic tip for the .22 Rimfire firstly i sad no i do't think they do and then i had a thought. They make them for other calibers so is there a reason why i have never heard of them. Please could anyone help so i can let the old man know. Kind regardes Nigel

wymberley
Hi, Very much depends on which rimfire you are talking about. Cheers
Bewsher500
I learned this week they make a ballistic tipped WMR round. I think a .22HV Vmax would work on a hard enough target. certainly no more penetration than solid lead and it wouldnt zing off the ground as easily! did it come up in conversation as he was planning to use them on the ####s?! Alycidon
You cant get the velocity needed to make them expand, and at 24p or so per bullet I cant see to many people paying the surcharge for them even if you could. A

Remington, 33gr and if it suits the rifle, very tasty; only exceeded at longer ranges by the WRS.

Dekers
Remington, Hornady, CCI make them for the .22WMR, (and they work well) and probably others too. There are none for the .22lr as far as I am aware, for the simple reason they cannot perform at .22lr speeds!
