davecooper1
Looks like a good deal for the money you pay
Frenchieboy
I am with the S.A.C.S. and it was the level of insurance cover offered for the price (Amongst other things) that swung me to joining them as opposed to any of the other shooting organisations. Money well spent in my opinion!
Jimbo57
Interesting that none of the three correspondents above live in Scotland and therefore know nothing about how and by whom SACS was founded. Insurance is worth about £12 a year. What do you get for the rest of your subs? If all you want is insurance, pay the £12 to get it added to your household policy. If you want to protect your shooting, then join an Association that will do that.
webber
I know, but from previous experience on PW, when you try to enlighten members as to the potential deficiencies associated with certain organisations, it turns into a slanging match, and the mods close the thread. webber
mudpatten
Just to confirm that SACS has no input whatsoever into the English, Irish or Welsh legislative or political system. Unless you live in Scotland all you are buying is insurance. You are doing nothing to defend your sport. Probably a false economy in the long run. Frenchieboy
I'm not going to get lured into any sort of arguments here but I will say that without Ian Clark I very much doubt that I would have got my variation for the .243 so there is more to it than just the insurance! Bazooka Joe
I know, but from previous experience on PW, when you try to enlighten members as to the potential deficiencies associated with certain organisations, it turns into a slanging match, and the mods close the thread. webber I agree Webber, but as the norm it's BASC that takes the hit, mainly from disgruntled ex-members, trying to enlighten people that BASC is not the be all & end all of shooting org's. Just to confirm that SACS has no input whatsoever into the English, Irish or Welsh legislative or political system. Unless you live in Scotland all you are buying is insurance. You are doing nothing to defend your sport. Probably a false economy in the long run. Certainly wasn't false economy for me MP, they represented me well in a recent FAC related issue....wasn't the issue with a shooting bud who had the same...basically it was up to himself to sort it, advice of BASC was, how should I put it...U.S.
mudpatten
I`m very pleased to hear that SACS was able to help with a firearms issue in both your case and that of your friend. I fully understand that there are people who have issues about BASC. The same can be said of any major organisation. That, however, does not detract from the fact that, in terms of English, Welsh or Irish legislation and political process, the SACS is a sterile, voiceless eunuch. More English people should join SACS. They`ll get cheap insurance and maybe simple issues with the plod sorted out over the phone, whilst standing on the sidelines idly watching gun ownership in England, Wales and Northern Ireland eroded to the point of no return. ....and then we`ll all move house to Scotland. Simples. A bit like English people joining SACS.
