Phil no one can tell you an OAL that will work in your rifle as all chambers are different, best to load to your magazine length and work it back from there, you will find a sweet spot your rifle likes
garyb
If I'm correct.. I think the OP wants to know the length of these particular bullets, and not the seating depth / COAL

My old 6.5 would easily accept my mentors homeloads in the mag but they wouldn't chamber. To seat against the lands when you close the bolt can cause problems too. I'm sure you just worded it badly, but that's how it sounded to me when I read it so thought I'd point it out.

Oh yes Iam sure 15 years reloading lots of different calibers has shown me that, but I suspose if your happy with a 2 inch group use the SAMMI size most rifles have a bery long throat so if you load to the lands they wont fit in your mag, hence load to mag length and then work back Edited June 14, 2011 by Ackley

I don't fancy driving 11 miles and then walking 500 yards (and 500 yards back) to buy a quantity of something that I may well not use when a bunch of English speaking guys on here CAN understand the written word and are always helpful. Al4x - yep! Thanks, chaps Phil

What Phil needed to know I would say is that the bullet in question would fit in the mag of his Hornet when loaded. No point shoving the bullet in to fit the mag if it's stuffed half way into the case past the point it begins to narrow is there?! We have two ears and one mouth for a reason. It pays to do your homework on these matters! 2" groups! Whatever next?

wymberley
Hi, Guys, Anyone? Think Snowz got lost on his way home!? Cheers, Phil PS Thanks for trying, Mark. Sadly don't think that'll work, njc. The Weihrauch mag's are quite small with no chance of a fiddle. Had it sussed; 40gr Nosler single shot and 35 V Max mag fed, fox and rabbit and both with 1" high at 100yds (different zeroes). Simples! Then I found out how good the N550 is with the doubler so put that on and the different sight height fouled it all up. No real problem as the sight is easy to dial in and tells you where you're at, but prefer Plan A (the no fiddle version), so am going to have another play. Magus69
Eyup Phil Sorry mate can't help you with the OAL of the 40gr V-Max as I gave them away cos I just couldn't get them to fit my mag. However the Hornady 50gr SPSX does fit the mag I seat Mine with COAL of 1.8" they are every bit as accurate as the V-max through my rifle with a 1 in 14 twist (seems even happier with the heavier bullet). They are absolutely davastating on Charlie and if you want to eat your bunnys you need to be careful with your shot placement as they tend to disintigrate every thing from the rib cage forward with a normal head shot. I think you have already been running 2 different loads and know exactly what differences to dial in when switching between them which is what I do,50gr SPSX for fox and a spare mag with 35gr V-Max when bunny bashing. I'll PM the load for the SPSX bullet. Mike...
