beanieboy
As stated in a previous post my CZ452 American likes Winnie subs - today however, for the first time, one of them wouldn't eject [tried to bolt it several times] and I had to abandon my walk across the fields and return home to push the case out with a cleaning rod. Is it safe to assume this is just a dodgy round? - tried a number of rounds after this and all seems well again. Why does the odd round stick? [albeit only one so far]. I'm assuming you mean the case was stuck and not the bullet. It happens, just like some don't fire at all, now and again you will get a sub that goes sonic, one with a slightly heavy load and thin case, these things happen. Best not to worry and put it behind you! Fortunately the safety margins in the metalwork of most .22lr are massive in comparison with some centrefires. The barrel wall on my combi gun frightens me every time I look at it! It's no thicker than the shotgun barrel! I've had .22lr cases stick. Usually I think it's just a sign that the chamber and perhaps the bolt head needs a clean. That and the fact that they are mass produced and very thin as Dekers pointed out above. Bewsher500
I sometimes get unfired ones stuck. I just fire them into the ground and then eject!! good clean and try a different brand Edited June 21, 2011 by Bewsher500
Katash
Once my 452 was doing this occasionally, noticed last time I stripped the bolt I hadnt refitted the spring clip that goes around the exctractor arms correctly, removed it and bent it slightly and int now fine
Harnser
Its normal for the odd round to stick in the chamber . Possibly a dirty chamber , possibly a poorly formed case ,most likely the extractor claw did not get a good hold of the case rim . Carry on troshing . Harnser . dadioles
Weird, maybe I am just lucky but after thousands of .22LR and .17HMR I have never had a significant misfire or anything stuck in the chamber. Some bullets are quite tight and I don't use them because of that. I cannot use Ely or CCI in my CZ for that reason, it just takes too much force to close the bolt whereas with Winchester and SK (Lapua) they just slide in with no effort. I do keep things clean and had all my rifles from new.
beanieboy
I am still having problems with the case of the winnies sticking in the chamber - cleaned the barrel and chamber but tonight out of approx 30 rounds fired, 3 did not bolt out. Did notice that the ones that got stuck were slightly harder to bolt in. My CZ does not bolt well with Eleys [very tight] and I am beginning to think winnies may not suit either. Did find remingtons very smooth and accurate when I tried them last week. They are slightly shorter than both Eley and Winnies and have a harder and more rounded head - think I will try these for a week or two and if I find that they also stick then I will have to look at the bolt. rtaylor
I was having problems with miss fires with my CZ, took it back and they changed the striker spring. This has cured most of the miss fires, still occasionally does it though. I use remington's and have never had a case stuck.
