-Mongrel-
Seems to be the choices are AGS, Hawke, Leapers, Tasco, Richter or generic Hong Kong/Chinese scopes. I'm looking for a 3-9x50 mil dot scope for HFT, ideally with IR, any experiences and opinions on the best of the various options? Polish
I have the Hawke Sport HD 3-9x40 AO IR, for £50 you can't go wrong. Image is a little distorted round the edges at full zoom but it doesn't bother me as I'm looking down the middle... Have a Hawke NightEye 3-12x50 AO IR on another rifle which is a more expensive scope, but the larger diameter does allow noticeably more light in. Your best bet is to pop to a shop and try a few, see which works best for you, especially considering the eye relief may vary between scopes. bullet boy
Hawke make of scopes are good but at one time I had an AGS 3-9x40 Tactical Elite and I gotta say it was excellent value for money.Really good clear glass for the price. You won't go wrong if you buy an AGS! ATB.
lewj
i have a hake airmax 3-12X40 on my s400 and its great for targets and hunting it also comes with chairgun
paul87
I had a hawke hd sport 3-9x40 mil dot and found the crosshair to be quite thick. Maybe not a good thing for target shooting. Image was clear though. My opinion on my scope only maybe others will disagree, but as said go to a shop and look through a few.
steve_b_wales
Hawke are a good make, and most carry a 10 year warranty.
bullet boy
You could pick up a nice secondhand Bushnell Elite 10x40 Mil-Dot which are by far superior to the scopes you have mentioned, plus these are very popular among shooters on the HFT circuit! Brad93
Could recommend a hawk IR - I've got one not as clear or as easy to use as my Simmons scope and you can see down the tube a bit if you get what I mean but still a well made scope that does the job for £70 or whatever I paid for it
Joe
Hi guys, what's the idea with IR? I use a 3-9x50 Simmons scope for all my shooting and have never not been able to see the cross hairs whether shooting under moonlight, lamping etc. Had a look at one in a shop and it looks quite snazzy though. Cheers
