Gun Safe Alternative

I have recently had the following door approved in lieu of a full gun cabinet:

If you have a built in cupboard (i.e. made of brick or block walls) or a room with no windows then this is comparable in price to a gun safe but gives you the whole cupboard/room to fill with guns.....

Looks good, now i only need to build the extension

Just out of interest did you have to line the walls or anything with steel plate?

No I didn't but the walls are chuffing hard clinker block.

I'd love a gunroom! One day I will have one and that door looks perfect.

Am I right in thinking that the current cabinet standard is that it has to resist attack from hand tools for 30 minutes? If that's the case it's not hard to build to that standard without using steel.

I have a workshop that is alarmed and no windows. no access to garden without jumping hedges and fences. FLO would even consider my putting a cabinet in there so i could clean guns or make parts and store in workshop. it had to be in the house because there is more activity in the house. pain in the bum as i cant even leave bullets and primers up there as they want them locked in the house.

Apart from BS 7558/92, which is the British Standard for gunsafes, I think the level of security is completely down to the individual FLO.

security is on an individual risk basis, no garantees. looks ok for the price which is very keen indeed, doesn't mention anti-bump locks though only impact resistant which is as far as i can remember slide hammer type attack? i nearly made a gunroom myself but the mrs wanted a walk in wardrobe so i had to compromise
