i have noticed the pigeons have started to land in the tramlines of our wheat i was woundering if i put some shell decoys on top of the wheat i could decoy them in. And also if i put a shell decoy on a rod would the pigeons realise because it has no wings ??? many thanks.

yes you can put shell decoys on the wheat but if its windy they will simply fall off and you can lose them and a chance they will go through the combine not good... better to loft them above the crops on bamboo canes or something similar and use a floater or rotary along with the decoys.

I put some shells on top of the wheat but left the short sticks in. This seemed to stabilise them so that they do not fall of the crop so readily :good: just make sure the sticks are a good tight fit in the shells.

Can also get yourself some cheap garden netting (Wilkos). Stake that out over the crop with bamboo canes and then sit your shells on top. you can leave the short sticks in and just poke the sticks through the netting to stop em blowing about. Then when your done for the day just grab the netting by the corners pick the lot up and back to your hide to sort out!
