richy new shooter
hi guys im new to the site, just recently applied for my sgc just looking for a bit of advice. iv got the fao coming on tuesday, im from middlesbrough btw, anyway just a bit worried i didn't put down any offences on the application form but i do have a caution witch was for carrying a knife but it was about 10 years ago and i was only about 13 at the time. i didn't put it on because i read up on the net that after 5 years cautions dont count? also i carnt even remember what it was i was exactly cautioned with and when it was. since then about 2 years ago i was working as a life guard and had to have an enhanced crb check witch doesn't show anything up on it so that's the main reason i never put it down, do you think i should tell the fao when he comes or just wait to see if he mentions it first. And just to make sure iv done everything right security wise iv bolted the cabinet on an internal brick wall in the bedroom, iv fitted a lock to the bedroom door, and a mini wireless alarm in the bedroom and also i have a bsa ultra .22 which iv locked into the cabinet to make me look safer, any help will be much appreciated lads cheers. -Mongrel-
I would mention the caution...it WILL be on their paperwork, and just explain that you didn't put it down for the reason you've stated. I could be wrong, but I thought the cabinet needed to be on an external wall? Worth checking maybe. I also fited a bedroom door lock, but was told it wasn't necessary. That and the alarm though can only enhance rather than damage your prosepects.

Just let the FEO know. Best bet is to say that you were young and knew no better at the time. You're older and know how unbelievably stupid it was. Best to own up and be honest, than to have them find out the hard way.

Bloke
Welcome to the watch. I agree with the above, my cabinet is bolted to an inner brick wall, sited at the FEO's suggestion, so it must be OK. Make sure you are completely honest and contrite about any past history involving the police, even speeding tickets etc, if you don't they will wonder what else you could be hiding. I reckon if what you say is all there was to the incident, you should be ok

clayface
Welcome to PW. Well I have jsut had my interview and on my application I put down a driving ban, a conditional discharge for poaching and a caution. None of them had come up on the search at all - I could have not mentioned anything and they would never have known - didnt matter anyway as I still got my Cert
