Farmer-of-the-Futre
Heyy all, thought i would keep you posted with some pictures of what ive been shooting with the new gun, have had 4 bunnies and one pigeon so far. Cant seem to get all of the pictures small enough anyway im getting the barrel sorted as it has a slight wobble, should be able to really zero it in then Just wondering what sort of distances have people zeroed thier air rangers at, say, a 1 inch grouping? Thanks

kent
.177 12ftlb 35 yard set zero is normal, it should do much better than 1" at this range. That sort of range will give the most useable trajectory curve

mick miller
Not wanting to preach but I'd be holding off on live quarry till I got the accuracy issues sorted. Nothing leaves a sour taste like a bunny hopping off with a pellet stuck somewhere random. Lovely rifle though, have you rung Daystate to ask them about the accuracy issues? I know last time I spoke to them they went out of their way to help out, really nice folk. Daystate's always look so much nicer than the Rapids and cycle a lot more smoothly too. I still miss my .177 Harrier X (should have never have sold it) but the TTR1 I have now in .22 does me for anywhere I can't use a rimfire, the stock is bleeding ugly though, in fact I'd go as far as to say it's hideous (but practical). FalconFN
Try different pellets first, and it may take a while to 'lead up' the barrel properly and for everything to settle down. You should be able to get groupings around the size of a 5p at 35 yards - I can with my 15 year old, unregulated Falcon so it should be a doddle with that beauty. Farmer-of-the-Futre
What pellets are you using at present? Hey, got a tin of RWS Super H-Point (hollow points) when i got the gun but i came across a half used tin of some german ones, never heard of the make if it is that thats written on the lid, the gun preforms emmensly better with those pellets than the RWS however, took the gun to the shop today for a free fill and got the barrel sorted and the only pellets they had were RWS so got the same again, will be going to a different shop and find a different pellet

mick miller
I'd be looking at H&N Field Target Trophy or JSB Exacts. That said, I found that Crosman PowaPell fantastic in my .177 Harrier X especially on rabbits. I found softer pellets with less antimony in them didn't penetrate as well and I had far fewer runners using the PowaPell's. Glad to hear that you got the barrel sorted. What was the problem with it? I find my S200 really likes Air arms over everything else - it really doesn't like RWS, unlike my springer (HW77) isn't so fussy but I still use Air Arms in it, the extra weight gives a bit more "thump" when delivering the good news to my targets My lad uses H & N FTT in his .177 HW77 & he swears by them, plenty of weight with the extra bonus of flatter trajectory.
