Well today started with a bang, got a phone call late morning from the man I saw about an interview I had the day before. He said out of all the candidates I stood through and would like to offer me s job to start Monday , happy days I thought so afternoon off ! (been very unhappy at my job for a while). Packed the car and got to the fa for around 12.

Took the 15 month old labrador out as he has never been shooting (this is my first dog) he sat in the hide perfectly all day it was very quiet and I only shot 8 and picked 5. The dog at first was a little dubious of the feathers and bought me back 4 decoys instead  But finally he picked up his first bird with a near perfect retrieve and pick up. To say I was happy was an understatement . I carried on shooting and had my first ever right and left which added to the enjoyment of the day. Packed up at about 5, before I left I picked all my decoys first then sent the dog for the rest. After a little encouragement I had all the birds back and one happy lab. Back home and the Missus has knocked up pigeon with veg and blackberry reduction (picked a few days before) but what a great day I had can't wait to get out again with him :good: maybe on the marsh before the end of the season :hmm:
