Coupe,

I had a similar problem with Merlin. He would be fine with me but with Tracey (my partner) he would growl at her.

Get an empty beer can, and put a few pennies in it and tape the top up.

If he bears his teeth, rattle it but make sure he doesn't see the can. He will learn that the noise (which he won't like ) is associated with growling at your girlfriend.

Cheers

Martin

It sounds to me that your loving little puppy is growing up and has decided that he would like to change the hiarchy order. In his eyes it should run You, Him and then your Girlfriend, so it is now time for your Girlfriend to put him in his place.

Have your Girlfriend do the following. She should do this exercise 2 or 3 times aday for the next 2 weeks.

Sitting down on the floor, roll the puppy on his back between her legs. Have his head in her lap. Place her hand on his chest, one front leg between her thumb and 1st fingure, and the other leg between her little finger and its neighbor. The dog must stay in this position relaxed for the count of 10 seconds with no struggling. At the end of 10 seconds of calm let the dog up and praise with good puppy. Repeat this exercise 2 to 3 times a day.

This is the most submissive position that you can put a dog into, and should settle it into his mind as to where he belongs in the order of things. Do not start to count until he does not struggle.

I know I have some pictures of this, just trying to find them.

No in that case he is just being an engraciating puppy and trying to suck up to get back in the good books

:good::lol:;) . It is him being on his back with his belly, neck , and genitals exposed that is putting him into a compromising position. In this position he is vunerable, and if you ever watch pups around older dogs, if they are in trouble or have over stepped the line this is the position they will take.

It sure works,I have an 11y.o. springer bitch who will if she`s been told off roll onto her back with tail between her legs and if you go to stroke her belly she freezes. It`s a good method of establishing the pecking order as NTTF has said, another is that when entering the house the dogs sit til all humans have gone in before them.

Best of luck :)
