wingnut
Went out on my 1st goose shoot this morning with my good mate Mally, got up at 4.30am and met him at his place and after a quick cuppa we headed off to the stubble fields where he has permission, we waited in the dark and could clearly hear the Geese in the distance, the exitement mounted as he whispered get ready. My 1st sight of them was in the dawns early light at very low height just skimming the tree tops, there were 6 in a very tight group, as they approached i started to get very nervous, Mally called now and we stood up, he said for me to take the left, i'll take the right, my 1st shot was way in front, the next one took the bird cleanly, a really nice Greylag, my smile was from ear to ear, Mally had managed to claim 2 canada's. As we collected these more geese approached from the front, we managed to take another pair from this skein, one Canada each. These were quicly collected amd same as before the next group were coming in, another pair taken cleanly. We decided that was enough amd as we trudged back even more geese were circling overhead and attempting to land. That was my 1st attempt at Goose shooting and it has left an amazing impression on me. Famtastic 20 minutes, and the memory of a lifetime, still high on adrenaline an hour later. Just like to say a very big Thank you to Mally. :good: Edited September 9, 2011 by wingnut

wingnut
well done. do you use the brick style of cooking the goose Hi, you must be phsycic, i have just finished prepping them, and my wife wanted to know the best way of cooking them, so i explained the Brick cooking style in great detail to her! The look on her face. "PRICELESS" Just a quick question Is it better to use Engineering bricks, or just an old one from out of the garden?
