Get yourself a good cleaning kit and some decent gun oil, clean after every outing, bronze brush through barels to remove dirt, dry rag to clean any left over then push cottony thing through with a drop of oil then wipe over the whole thing lightly with a dab of oil. Try keep inside of cabinet free from damp aswel.

The gun will have proof marks which include a 2 digit date code:
