steve_b_wales
I tried out the new remote control today, and was impressed. I need to make a better earth though, to increase the range. I used it at around 30 yards. Good value for £19.99. I also tried, for the first time, the Howard Leight electronic earmuffs, and was well impressed. Going to sound silly, but try pressing remote under your chin, you'll be pleasantly surprised how much extra distance that gives you. steve_b_wales
There is an earth lead connected to the remote box, which has to be grounded. I tried a small piece of metal, but will now make a better ground spike. I'll also try the 'tips' mentioned. Steve.

Cosd's tip works I have shot with him and seen the difference on and off the chin, much better with it on and it keeps him nicely quiet in the hide
steve_b_wales
I had it working at around 30 yards, but had to stand up in the hide, and point the remote down towards the control box. Hopefully, with a better earth, I should be able to use the remote while sitting down.

Cranfield
I am glad its working OK, but I have never felt a need for a remote for the rotary. I turn mine on, walk back to my hide, shoot loads of pigeons , walk from my hide, turn it off, pack it away and go home (thats the theory ). I don't turn it on and off throughout the day. I did however purchase a timer for my flapper at Bisley Live and that is a 100 times better than the distraction of having to keep turning it on and off. The remote control will only be used when decoying corvids. I have found that jackdaw's will come in to land, when the rota is going (and has two crows/jackdaws attached) but most crows will avoid it. I intend to switch it off if I see crows out at a distance. I have a few timers that are attached to my flappers. They are excellent, especially for crow/jackdaw shooting. Steve. Bluebarrels
I just increased the length of the wire, run it back to the hide so the battery and speed controller are with me turn it on off,increase/slow speed down without breaking cover BB

I used to do the same years ago with a longer lead from battery to rota, but found that it drained the battery quicker.
Redditch
I have two intermittent timers for my flappers, but have a long lead from the rotary back to the hide where I have the speed controller and battery (Came standard with that), and some times use four decoys on the rotary, and sometimes only two, depends how the birds are pulling. Then I have two small three bird rotarys too (one crow, one dove) that I got from the States, which are quite good too. I tried the above, and yes, it did work!
