al4x
I've just heard from my brother that the latest Sporting Gun I think it is has a story about an ongoing prosecution of two women who had the armed response called while training. basically it's local to us and I remember it being reported in the local paper about police being called out to sounds of gunshots, when the investigating officer arrived they carried on shooting so the ARV was called and arrested two people in connection with attempting to shoot the officer. What actually happened is they were out with a starting pistol and blanks with dogs and dummies etc with permission to be in the woods in question. But the public has access to the woods so they are being prosecuted for something ridiculous like possesion of an immitation firearm in a public place. They stand a real chance of being sent down for it So be carefull what you're doing while dog training!
pavman
The world has gone mad, stop it I want to get off
SNAKEBITE
I have not seen the article so cannot comment fairly, however on the information you have just given I would say that the best course of action would have been for the two ladies to stop the training, approach the officers and tell them thanks for poking your nose in but everything is fine. Just carrying on like that is bound to cause trouble. The ARV is full of testosterone charged men who want it to kick off and will be to proud to admit a mistake. Once challenged like that they don't want to lose face do they?
lurcherboy
Has anyone met any women gundog trainers? They are all like Barbara Woodhouse and she scares most, or did! LB
MC
I'm with you on that one LB, My trainer asked who was scared of her and we were all too frightened to put our hands up THis article is in shooting times, apparently the wood they were in is private yet a member of the public complained that they had a firearm. So it appears that even if you are on private property with permission you are not safe. Cheers Martin
tenbears10
Those blokes on the start line at the 2012 olympics better watch out I expect they will have changed the starting pistol in the athletics to a computer generated quack so as not to scare anyone. In deferance to the current swearing thread I won't say what I am thinking but this is ******* madness.
kip270
What a complete waste of TAX PAYERS money. If they only spent so much time and effort getting to grips with the Armed Crims Surely the Police should of looked at this using COMMON SENSE (oopps forgot they haven't got any ) It's not as if they were in the Hight street training their dogs. This country is going completly MAD, too many ill informed People for my liking. I hope it get's thrown out and the officer's made to pay cost's :yp:

Teal
I think (hope!) this case will be laughed out of court, but the fact it got so far is worrying. No prizes for guessing the complainant wasn't a local then.
