maverick123
I currently have a 3 gun cabinet with 3 guns in. Along with these i have 4 PCP air guns that are locked under the stairs. I would like to apply for my rifle licence soon as permissions have become available. Basically im looking at a 10 gun safe with internal locking bit for ammo so i can keep the shotguns and PCPS in one place with space for a rifle or 2 when/if licence happens If I go ahead and purchase it what do I need to do in terms of informing the firearms department? Do I call them before fitting or after and inform them I have changed it? Thanks

deershooter
Why tell them if the specification is up to scratch there is no requirement in law to have a gun safe you just need to keep them secure It is just your force being big brother I would not keep the air rifles with the shotguns I would have the shotguns and rifles together and the air guns on there own the FEO might get all wobbly when he sees other guns, I have known some forces to log details of air rifles when it has nothing to do with them Deershooter
stokie
When I fitted a larger safe I rang firearms admin and they said not to worry it ok . But then a mate under the same force had a visit because he had 5 guns and they thought he still had a 3 gun cabinet. Inform them in writing and let them decide then your covered
Dekers
1. Buy Cabinet! 2. Bolt it to the wall/floor! 3. Go to bed and forget it! If you have any concerns write to your region and tell them what you have done!
Blunderbuss
I recently fitted a bigger cabinet. I fitted it first and then told them. A few weeks later the FEO was round to do a land clearance check and had a look at the new one. He didn't even look inside it or check the fixings. The only thing he was interested in was the maximum number of guns that could fit in it. Its a 7 gun extra deep rifle safe - he signed it off for 12! maverick123
My issue is that when he came round to check the 3 gun cabinet he made note of the size, I didnt know if I was only licensed to hold 3 guns, by which I mean was a note added to say the max number of guns I can store is 3? Interesting about the air gun bit, I assumed as we are now required to keep them secure the FEO would be pleased! :look: I reckon ill just buy one and bolt it in and write them a note.
