Advice Ref Wifes New Business

Oh and if I am honest, I do not like the website and the configuration won't help you in Google. I don't know how long the site has been live, but you are on the second page of Google if you search for your company name. You should be at least in the top 5 on page 1 for your company name.

People talk about the holy grail of being number 1, page 1 in Google but it really isn't difficult to achieve for low competition things like your company name or specific low competition terms like "dog walking Ascot".

I don't like flash (changing/flashing images) on websites, it was popular at one time but it is un-necessary and gimmicky. I would compare it to the web equivalent of crazy paving, very popular at one time but a bit naff nowadays. (my personal view only)

If you did do Adwords it would only be a short term fix. At the moment it's like your website is a very small, badly arranged shop in the deepest back street of town. You can buy advertising to send people there (Adwords) but as soon as you stop the advertising you will lose all your trade because it will never generate passing trade. You would be better off spending the Adwords budget on getting someone who knows about SEO to fix the current website.

At the moment the background stays and just the white bit changes. This white text area is too small and doesn't contain enough of the right keywords. The Nikki Pilkington article will talk about "keyword density". I would suggest that the text area is made larger and that the text doesnt float on a univeral background but that each page has it's own background images. (albeit that they can be the same image) Your site has probably been configured like this currently to keep the initial build costs low.

There isn't good SEO use of H1, H2 and H3 tags in the page either.

All the website related suggestions I made in my other posts will be pointless unless you change the make up of the site now.

You may decide that your website is just a business card on the internet and you are going to just send people there for your details. (in which case it is OK) BUT if you want your website to be a marketing tool to generate business then changes will need to be made.

I am now up to 400 stand alone websites for my business and by the end of the year will have 500. I have many page 1, position 1 sites. We get 20-30 quote requests per day as a result of our websites. (to be honest it could be more but looking after that many websites is a full time job in itself!) We get a larger proportion of enquiries from our websites than any other form of marketing.

Good Luck with it :good:

Lots of elderley folk have dogs and if they get sick ,have to go into hospital, a ready made market for you. Leave some leaflets with your local travel agents and ask them to pop them in with clients tickets. Estate agents sometimes have a new buyers folder ask them to put one of your leaflets in the welcome to your new house file.Nice to see a lady making an effort to help herself. Good Luck. :good: from Auntie.

Take your time to read and absorb what ME has suggested, it makes sense.

Taking advice from someone that knows what they are talking about,is the one of the first rules of any business.

One suggestion I would make make, The offer to delivery and collection of pets to and from Vets surgeries, and the minding of them during the day. This would negate the necessity of taking time out of work etc.

But remember read, absorb and use the free advice from ME.

Why has no one mentioned the biggest and best......Yellow pages book and if you have missed the book Yell online! Its not the biggest for nothing! :hmm:

Nobody keeps a Yellow Pages nowadays. (do they even still send the books out?) I would always use Google first before any other search for a local business.

I have mates that have advertised businesses with Yell (this year) - a car valeting business and a bathroom fitter and both said that the jobs from Yell only just covered the advertising cost.

I did try Yell advertising about 5 years ago for a different business and that didn't work. When I took my advert they started at £900 for the year and after a lot of haggling I got the same advert for £180. <_<

Yell and Yellow Pages are dinosaurs and I am confident that they will be extinct before long.
