Long story short, my first Goose this year was not picked as the marsh I had to get the dog onto had cattle, that became apparent as light broke... Dog got chased down and I had to call her up. Discussed with Grandalf who sent me this so I thought I would share it if they can take on a bear what chance a Lab?

Cows can spook for many reasons. I walked into one of our fields a few years ago with my son. The beef cattle jumped up ran to the corner of the field. Jumped and smashed into a metal five bar gate and spent the afternoon running round a field of wheat about a week off harvesting.

I had been in there loads and shot in there with them but they spooked at the little one with me. If they are in a funny mooood to never know what they will do.

I hate cows, I know fine well how to handle them, still hate them. Avoid if at all possible if you have dogs with you.

Likewise, I can still remember getting knocked through a 5 bar wooden gate as a youngster    If I get caught out I leave the dog sitting to distract them whilst I retreat - well, he can run faster than me & Cow's ;)
