the pelt man
Got a PM from BakerBoy last week wanting Me & the Boys to get out with the Ferrets on one of his permissions as the Farmer has a big problem with those pesky Wabbits, not wanting to turn down the offer we arranged to meet up this weekend. So yesterday arrived at 8.45am met up with BakerBoy who took us down to the first warren, which was a bank covered in nettles about 80 meters long & 3 wide with about 50 holes in. Jim Bob & I netted up then entered 7 Ferrets while BakerBoy got his Semi Auto out riding shot Gun for any Rabbits that slipped the nets. CP turned up after all the hard work was done (again) and joined in the fun. Things were slow but steady and we bagged a Bakers Dozen from the Warren, only one of these slipped the net but a quick shout too BakerBoy saw the bolting Rabbit running down the line bowl over from a single shot from his Semi We then moved down the Field to a Warren in the corner which was edged by Rabbit fencing. So i set the long net to contain the warren and cut of any escape route. We had a few out of there, (one to the long net) before we moved on to the next Warren which was on a bank again but 180 yards long and 4 wide. I ran the 100 meter long net out which CP set down one side of the bank the other blocked by Rabbit fencing, Jim Bob & BakerBoy laid nets while i went down the chippy for Fish & chips for us all. After eating we entered 7 Ferrets and waited, we had Rabbits bolt along the full length of the warren and the long net trapped another purse net escapey which is always a good idea to set if you have enough time to. this weekends FINAL BAG 29, one of them the size of a Orange which we had a 3 foot dig for It was then back to the Club for beer and watch England beat Spain Cheers to the Ferreting Team Many thanks to BakerBoy for the invite & look forward to finnishing of the Job, great company & yet again another great day Ferreting. bakerboy
I had a great day out, and cannot wait to go out again . It was good to see a team work so well together, very professional, and obviously good friends too. I would have no problem reccomending them to any anyone. After a few minutes they thought they had found another Ferret, an Albino, but it turned out to be the Moustache I have grown for Movember, alas I am a Ginger no longer. Thanks for coming Ian and I look forward to going out with you again, but I will have to learn Jims "Preying Mantis" pose when listening for rabbits .
