debaser
Just a quick query, what circumstances would provide good reason for a 12 bore slug ammo allowance on a sec 1 cert? Also for those who do have this what numbers do you have? Is it something like buy 25 hold 50? Regards.

I know they are used for Deer and Boar, Turkey's are taken with 4 ish shot like geese there would be nothing edible left if you hit one with a slug except a cloud of feathers! Imperfection
If you're a member of a club and the range is ok with the muzzle energy/calibre then target shooting is good enough reason.I know people with buy 200x hold 300x,but this will likely be down to individual FEO opinions. Some forces also allow it for deer and boar. Vermincinerator
My conditions say this: The 12 bore smooth bore gun/solid slug shall be use for practical taget shooting: a)On ranges suitable for the safe use of that class of firearm and with adequate financial arrangements in place to meet any injury or damage claims. b)Over a course of fire approved by a qualified member of the UKPSA on land over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot. I have 75 to buy at any one time and 100 to hold. The shotgun itself is also conditioned for vermin and ground game, with a further condition for wild birds in accordance with the puspose, terms and conditions of the general licence currently issued by the appropriate authority under the provisions of the wildlife and Countryside act 1981.
