wildfowler.250
I have a friend that picked up a SX3 recently,(3.5" black shadow). When he's been out wildfowling at night he is seeing,(sometimes) a flash in the right hand side of the gun where the cartridge comes out. I think it's bad enough to say that he looses his 'night vision' for a few minutes. I know he has had the odd jam with the gun with 2 3/4 shells but don't know if the 2 probs are related. Any ideas as to how significant a problem this is? Appreciate any replies! He's used a few semi autos before for fowling ect but seemed quite bothered by this
Dr_evil
Never had a problem with my SX3, infact I actually miss it :( It was a slightly better fit for me than the Xtrema 2, I cycled 2 3/4 carts through it at night and never hand any flashes other than that of the muzzle Might just be the carts ? Cannon
This also happens with my SX3. Every so often a flame shoots out of the ejection port on the gun, and it's normally a big flame lol. Seems to happen when you fire in quick succession. Doesn't bother me and I wouldn't imagine it would cause any harm to the gun.
aister
i get flashes out of my sx3 when i use remington nitro mags, i dont use them for night flights now because as you say, you lose your night vision for a moment. i dont think its a problem with the gun as it doesn't happen with other shells. Mike525steel
I used to get it with lyvale sporters. Put it down to dogy slow burning powder. I use gamebore pure gold now all the time and I have never had it since. If you clean the action ie stip it down and take the bolt out you will find a load of the green powder squares in there. I used to get it after i had the flash
killer_pigeon
mate gets a side flame on his SX3, he doesnt notice it but everybody else can from the side, maybe its a design feature to keep your trigger hand warm in winter
