Ferretboy111
No's 5's 36grm, crickeys do you actually want to have a shoulder left as well as any meat, i use 36grm on occassional high pheasent driven days, usually i just stick with 6's 32g as you get a good spread and dont wake up everyone in the nearest village around you! However i did use 24g 7's once and they work, i mean any cartridge will do. Alex
al4x
Thats what I was thinking 36 grams is slightly overkill, anything from 30 grams and 6 will be fine. Something nice and cheap if my kill ratio is anything to go by when lamping
BERETTA687
yea i was thinking why such a big cartridge for a rabit. stard game cartridge will do then?

dunganick
nothing wrong with using too much lead. depends if your doing pest control or shooting for the pot. My Choice is 32g of 6's But lamping with a shotgun at night is bloody difficult and not very productive in my experiance.
young gun
I had a go at lamping rabbits with a shotgun last year and found it was difficult to get more than a couple of rabbits as after the first shot any rabbits near by are gone. Although i did find a 4.10 is much more effective as it is much quiter so the sound dosn't travel as far and as long as the rabbits aren't lamp shy you shouldn't have to much of a problem getting within range of them. for a standard 12 bore load though i found 32 grams of 6's worked fine as i rarley found i was shooting at a great range. Sussexboy
Has anybody noticed that rabbits no longer stay still for more than 2 nanoseconds when a light hits them. When I were a lad, if you shone a lamp on a bunnie he stood up and surrendered like a frenchman, but no more. Why is that.....................or is it just me
Frank
Yes, i shoot at night at bunnys purely for pest control and as Nick says, they are bloody hard to get at night with shotgun. 6s are better for the pot and 32 grams. Has anybody noticed that rabbits no longer stay still for more than 2 nanoseconds when a light hits them. When I were a lad, if you shone a lamp on a bunnie he stood up and surrendered like a frenchman, but no more. Why is that.....................or is it just me Id say its because, more and more people are taking up lamping and in their eagerness to get a big bag, are taking pot shots and missing them, thus making them lamp shy.
