Doc Holliday
I'm out ferreting with a friend next Thursday (22nd December) and he has asked me if I know of anyone with a longnet we could borrow for the day. We went for a recce today and have found a couple of excellent warrens. There is good chance that any rabbits would bolt to the other warren acroos the way and vice versa so we were hoping to borrow a longnet to place between them and catch them. I would assume all responsibility for the net being returned in the same condition as it was lent. In the unlikely even that it would become damaged I will replace it with one of same quality. Can't say fairer than that. I'm hoping it would prove to be something I'd like to get in to but don't want to be forking out for a net unneccesarily to start with. In the hope that someone could help, I thank you in advance.

compo90
put nets on the holes long nets are for lazy ppl who cant be ***** to put nets on i will give you the benefit of the doubt on this one.......i started ferreting in north yorkshire and west yorkshire where i am from (noted your a little bit further north east from there) and all the rabbit warrens i started ferreting were 20holes max and pursenets were the order of the day.........i now live in teh south east and ferret in buckinghamshire, northamptonshire, bedfordshire and berkshire and anywhere else i am invited....... the soft southern landscape (lots of sandy soil) and other environmental factors mean that the rabbits are often in higher populations and the warrens a lots bigger and deeper.........now 20holes for me is a small warren.....i regularly set 50-80 nets by myself and use my 100yard longnet also ....... i also use the longnet around clumps of undergrowth that would make crawling under to set pursenets hard work......... when i was ferreting "up north" i too would have questioned someone using a longnet to surround warrens.....now i am down south it is often the only way to get the job done
Bleeh
put nets on the holes long nets are for lazy ppl who cant be ***** to put nets on I always used to put nets out, then a few long nets as an insurance policy encase anything slipped or bolted out of an unknown hole. Seeing how the things only take a few minutes to set up it was certainly worth ti.
