Country Boy
4's are fine for pigeons, if you open one up and say a 6 or a 7 theres not that much difference in pellet size !!! I bin using a 20g mossberg hushpowered, its a wee bit cumbersome due to extra length and its only really useful for shooting in a sensitive area. Only the 410 is truely hushed - up my buddy has got one.

wildfowler.250
I prefer normal shells in them. Cannot suss how much extra lead the subsinics require when compared to a standard cartridge
Country Boy
what carts do you run in your 20g hushpower then mate ? Well nothing specific,I have a great old mixed stock of winnies, eleys and rio's ALL plaswads, that I bought from euroguns when they moved from that old school at Mattersey. What I dint mention is that I also have a standard barrel and I find the gun much more useful than the side by side was for me. I only fit the hushpower barrel when I shoot near to a livery yard!! retromlc
I prefer normal shells in them. Cannot suss how much extra lead the subsinics require when compared to a standard cartridge i only give a little extra lead, most of time I don't try to factor it in,they are probably only 200fps slower if your using a 1250fps normal cart, and over say 25 meters it's nout to over worry about

chrispti
Gamebore make a subsonic game load called ''Hushpower''. Its a 30g of #5 load. I consistently killed some good high pigeons using them. Here's a clip I found on youtube to give you some idea on the noise reduction Edited December 21, 2011 by chrispti
turbo33
I have a mossy .410. Its a definate keeper. Decoying at a 25-30 yard kill zone it drops them like a stone Although many succesful longer shots suprised me. I found it came into its on on rape last year as all you get is reasonable clack. I tried the 20g but found it way too cumbersome and long. 12, 20, or .410, they are a very good extra tool in the cabinet for the right occasion
compo90
i have the baikal 12g hushpower.....i use subsonic cartridges in it, i have also used standard eley pigeon cartridges (and heavy fox loads when i saw and shot a fox) , to be fair the standard cartridges are quietened enough that you dont need hearing defenders (my main reason for buying teh gun as i hate ear muff's or plugs) i have a fair bit of shooting on equestrian land and why i bought mine.......it just wouldn't be possible to shoot some places without it The gamekeeper on the original post seems very wrong from my experience, yes they are bigger and take a bit of adjusting to use (more adjustment with subsonics) but for what they are designed for they do teh job...... when i first got it me and my son went and patterned it on a tree stump using sub's, underneath some tree's .....only when we walked up to inspect the stump did we flush the 4 woodies sat in the tree that we hadn't seen
