Hi if I know pigeon are flighting down a hedge row and I wanted too decoy them.

Would the plan be to get them too land in the field or would I be better off setting the decoys near too a tree in the hedge so they land in that.

Also would I get away with a couple of full bodied decoys too start ? and any recommended sellers

Just seen these on ebay I could stretch too them if they are worth it

[/quotyou wanna get yourself into the hedge and set the decoys out in the field depending on wind direction to sort your decoy pattern. you wanna put them out in a v formation so they tend to land towards the middle of it. a good idea is maybe 2 crows and 2 magpies aswell, i put crows at the rear and i put the magpies bang on my hide poles, dont need them to be honest but seems to make the pigeons feel safer. watch youtube for some good shooting i put a link below of a channel i follow he puts up some good videos...

Hello Terry.we do alot of decoying with air rifles. This is done next to a small wooded area.

I put two full body dec out about 10mtrs in the field under the flight path, and stand in the woods, the pigeons see the decs and swing around and land in amoungst the trees.Once we see the prefered trees the birds are using(this depends on wind direction)we will move within range of the trees the pigeons are using.

I i should of said, theres alot of oak trees in the wood and the pigeons are looking for the last of the Acorns on the ground. We put the decs near the oaks.

We decoy for pigeons quite a bit on a couple of our shoots & like the rest of the replies, we set the deeks up near "sitty" trees & pick off the birds as they land in the trees adjacent to the pattern, make yourself a couple of lofting wires & possibly a bouncer - there's plenty on here in the DIY section about these.

Usually go for between the shoulder blades / nape of the neck where , chest shots are ok but try to avoid the crop.

ALL THE ADVICE IS GOOD BUT I WOULD SAY SITTING STILL WOODPIGEONS HAVE ACE EYESIGHT AND GETTING BEHIND SOME COVER OF SOME SORT WILL DEFO HELP...I PREFER THE TREE METHOD AND TRY TO AVOID SHOOTING DIRECTLY INTO THE CROP AREA ..BUT THE BEST ADVICE IS NOT TO GIVE UP AND KEEP TRYING SOMETIMES THEY CAN BE HELL TO TRICK..GOOD LUCK AND GOOD SHOOTING
