  1. I they are cedar they wont need anything (check though cos they could be cheapos made from ply) the reason beehives are made from cedar is that it doesn't need any preservative and so there's no risk of harming the bees.
  2. I have a 4 gun deep rifle cabinet with locking top for sale its a JFC GB4LT they retail at £174 both sets of keys dimensions are 1500x450x280mm Open to sensible offers
  3. blimey that .308 got him up in the air didnt it
  4. I have a clearview net that is high enough that I have to stand to shoot over, and have a traditional net on the outside of that so I can see through the clearview and overthe traditional net whern Im sitting and then I stand up to shoot them....but I sometimes just stand up anyway because through the clearview net flys look like pigeons and I get excited
  5. fair play, hadnt thought about it that way
  6. Slightly off topic but I have some pretty wide ones where I shoot but during the summer if I put veil and everything on I can get away with just a low seat and sitting still not Ideal for decoying but perfect for flighting and v. mobile
  7. thats interesting, I have stuck a bit of ptfe tape round the grommet and it seems ok ... havent tried it yet though....thanks for that though AD atb Ratty
  8. Thanks for the advice, I also gave them a ring and they said to put some tape around the grommet so it would grip better. Im going to do a bit of experimentation later Atb
  9. Morning all, was wondering if any of you lot have one of the flappers made by A1 decoys that fit onto a bouncer, se I bought one and Every time I stick a pigeon on it and turn it on the weight of the bird makes it turn upside down. It is the extending bit on the bouncer that turns, but I cant seem to sort it out by tightening the ring on the bouncer (hope that makes sense) Have any of you got one of these and have had similar problems...any award winning solutions out there? atb Ratty
  10. price? Sorry thought I was looking at the for sale section
  11. Semis are good because you have the light recoil and you will get into good habits with cleaning, but some people get snotty about semis pinging cartridges everywhere (especially if you ever do DTL), another thing to bear in ming with a semi is that you have an extra 4" of reciever on the end of the barrel so a 28" barrel will feel more like a 32". Overall a semi will be fine as long as you can manage a bit of micky taking and bad looks from scorers that have had emptys flung at them while you shoot, also you wont be able to shoot pheasents and stuff with it if you get the chance, other then that a semi is fine Hope that helps Atb Ratty
  12. change the colour of your filter, and if you have the dimmer then use the least light possible (but as always dont ever just shoot at eyeshine) Im not sure if you can buy the dimmers seperately, but its worth looking into if you havent got one Or if not then just give the area a break for a month or so hope this helps atb Ratty
  13. any chance of a pic of the hide put up? atb
  14. cant imagine it would be the same here because the BSA is self regulated but the HW100 is fully regulated thats also a good point
  15. Sounds like a trip to the RFD to me, I would take it back to the one where you bought it because (I may be wrong here) that once an air rifle has been put over the legal limit, even if its returned to legal limit it will still need to be held on an FAC, is your warrenty still valid? atb Ratty
  16. we've seen a fair few in flocks around my area (east of Bury st Edmunds), I just reckon that where there are in there flocks they area all in one place and as soon as the flocks break up they will spread out again and return to the areas that may not have as much food...might be wrong though, just a thought  atb Ratty
  17. What your looking at ther is a BSA Lightening XL they good little air rifles - reliable, powerful and accurate - I shot one for a year or so - their only prob is that they dont half rattle when they go off and everything within 100yards will be gone so im thinking in a barn maybe it might just be a tad too noisy. Hatsan do a lot of decent spring air rifles are fairly quiet but within your budget(breakbarrel), although a lot of people dont like Hatsan because its deemed to be a bit tacky, but if you want to stick to the mainstream brands try and get yourself a weihrauch HW77 or 97 bit more expensive but worth it. I'd stay away from Gamo and SMK and all those brands cos something is guaranteed to fall off within 1/2 an hour. Also have a look at the Air Arms TX200 genna be very naughty now but you will find this place useful Check this out Hope this helps and if you need any more help feel free to drop me a PM and I will try and help (although I think i've just about run out of things to say on the topic) and if not Im sure there will be someone on here who will be willing to help atb Ratty
  18. as above, some of my est ever shots on woodies have been with 7.5s :yp:
  19. I might be wrong but I didnt think that you could post the extension tube since it converts your shotie to a Sec 1 shotgun As I said i might be wrong but worth double checking to stay on the safe side
  20. IMO .22 for sub 15 yards because at that sort of range trajectory doesntreally make a difference and the effect of a .22 holow point or wadcutter at that range is frightening but as soon as you start pushing the ranges out to rabbit ranges .177 all the way - flatter shooting, higher velocity, cheaper pellets works for me TBH it doesnt reaaly matter what you use though as long as you can shoot to the appropriate degree of accuracy with it a rabbit shot with .177 in the brain is no less dead then the one with a .25 up there atb Ratty
