cockercas
its give 50-100mm of snow Saturday evening/night, haven't seen Sundays forecast. what do you want to do if there's 4 inch of snow on the ground? carry on as planed or re-arrange for the 19th? Penfolio
If there's snow on the ground or, falling I'll almost certainly have to back out. The 4x4 is off the road at the moment and, anything more than a dusting of snow is enough to sideline the other car. Fingers crossed for rain then. casts_by_fly
snow, rain, shine I'm still in. Anything short of unpassable roads (i.e. 6" on the road) and I'll be there. I'll check back here later tonight and see how we're getting on. thanks rick
cockercas
right then, were on as planned, anyone who is not going to come because of weather pm me please.
Paul T
The snow is slowing here so fingers crossed the lane up to the Park Lodge will be fairly easily passable. The main roads here are fine

cockercas
is anyone coming in a normal car? paul what do you think the track to the ground will be like?
Penfolio
I was planning to come in a 'normal' car but, a normal car for me at the moment is rear wheel drive and, it is worse than hopeless with even a light dusting of snow. If the roads are safe I'll certainly head over but, I had two buttock clenchers on my way home this evening and I'm in no hurry to 'go again'. casts_by_fly
I'm in a 'normal' car, actually a little worse as it's a little 1 series with rear wheel drive and road tires. If it is just a normal country single track then I'm usually fine in the car. If I have to pull off the road though then things get hairy. How far is the lodge from the nearest 'normal' road if I need to walk in? Thanks, Rick
cockercas
Just been out. And **** me. Therse 4 inch of the stuff on the road. Will the ground be open?. I'll bring my tow rope rick. Just incase
casts_by_fly
good plan. I always bring a shovel and I'll throw some sand in the trunk for traction. We've got about 4" too. Want to PM me your phone number in case things change for the morning? I'll also check this thread before I head out. Thanks, Rick

Paul T
Here's the local weather forecast at 11.30. theres over 5" of snow on the ground and main roads are passable with care. The road up to the ground is ok to the motorway bridge, but a whiteout beyond. It's thawing so should be ok. I'll have a drive up at 8am and report back in. Thing is, if we get there will the traps be working and the ground safe to walk around?
casts_by_fly
Hi Paul, let us know in the morning. I'll check in here before I leave (planning to leave around 9). If the traps are throwing I'll come shoot. If you think that things won't be open, then we can reschedule. Thanks, Rick
cockercas
I also await your answer paul. Will the ground open with snow on the ground? Health and safety and all that. Loaded guns and the potential to slip = disaster
Paul T
Right lads, I've been for a drive up. The road is slippery but passable up to the motorway bridge. Beyond that there's only been one 4x4 used the track, so I wasn't prepared to risk it in the wife's vectra. It's minus 6 now so unlikely to thaw. Even if a few 4x4s use the track between now and opening I don't think it'll be passable for 2WD for a good while. H&S is a good point, but I also think there might be a lot of probs with the traps. My gut feeling is we postpone, but it's your call Joe.
