Steel100
As it says, really. I've just become the very happy owner of a s/h (but very tidy) .22 Hornet CZ527. Naturally, I wish to mount some glass. I'll probably be looking for a fixed power Meopta, or similar. However, I need suitable rings. I believe several companies including Warne and CZ have suitable 1" rings but I'd welcome any thoughts on which rings are the best - I'll presumably, need medium or high rings to accommodate a 50 or 56mm objective. I'd be very grateful for any advice / opinions etc. Kind regards Andy
garyb
Leupold rings and bases get my vote everytime. All my rifles wear them, never had one loose zero yet. I'm not a fan of their optics but their ironwork is good! http://www.leupold.com/hunting-and-shooting/products/mounting-systems-and-accessories/mounting-systems/
njc110381
One thing to keep an eye on with the 527 is the angle of the bolt when lifted. If the mounts are too low the eye piece of some scopes can catch the bolt - it can be a right pain in the butt! If you do end up with a 50mm lens then your mounts will be high enough I should think but if not, it's a point that you really need to consider. Dekers
Careful with the 527 as others have mentioned, eye relief can also cause problems with the mounts I have been reliably informed!
fruitloop
my 527 has a high set of rings becuse the bolt clearence and it only just clears the scope youd be best to take it with you to a shop and ask to try some for the hight as for the hight from the stock you might have to put a riser on
THE GRIFF
On my 527 the rail fitting is not a standard width, therefor you are limited to very few makes, I would take it to the shop and make sure they fit then you know for sure if the bolt clears as well. Steel100
Thanks to everyone for their replies. I'll probably, end up going for a high set of rings and 'trying b4 buying'. Cheers Andy
Dunkield
I have Warne rings on my CZ527 and a 50mm scope, the bolt clearance is fine with that combination and the scope still sits nice and low.
Dunkield
As I had the 223 out I took a couple of pictures of the scope clearance, it's tight, but it works a treat.
