neil
A wet hessian sack or two is good,(if you can find the water)
Cranfield
The large, box shape, (cheap) cool bags from Tesco are good, with or without an ice pack. For you William, I would think a very small plastic bag would be sufficient.

Hammergun
A cool box with those ice blocks should keep pigeons good for a long time in the field. Will also keep your beers cold too.
Buzzer
I use mial sacks....they let the air trough them and keep the flys of the birds. The flys will blow on the out side of the sacks sometimes, but at least they dont get on the birds. All the best Buzz
MAJ
Try some plain net curtains, dyed green or brown. They're nice and light, and can be screwed up into the bottom of your rucksack. Get your Mrs to run them through the sewing machine to make a bag with a draw string to close the top.
