Making money online isn't as easy as it used to be and as a lot of people have said, selling a product is hard work and there is nearly always competition, so what I find best is selling advertising space or in some cases selling the product for someone else so I don't have to stock it. My advice to anyone starting up would be choose a subject you like/know something about, set up a site (use wordpress it's free) and just write about your subject. As your traffic builds so does the value of your site and advertising.

Once you get established you can then sell advertising space directly to companies, until then you can use Ad Networks for a small income (will usually cover your domain costs at least). Regarding selling products for other people some Affiliate Networks and Programs offer you up to 20% of the product price in commission (though most mainstream products are only 4 or 5%) so if you are very targeted with your subject and can sell this it is very good money with no overhead or stock holding.

Regarding the Adult sector, the same goes the easier money is in affiliate revenue the same as above, the sector also pays up to 50% of the recurring income, but keep in mind it is fiercely competitive and most people actually move into mainstream for this reason.

Been doing this for over 9 years and there are many things you can do and it is by no means a get rich quick scheme, but it can work and I know a few other people who make good money doing it.

I have worked in electronics sales for over 20 yrs, including a lot of HK based companies and even with a massive infrastructure behind them it's hard to make money.

No warranty if you import it yourself, just a 2% oversupply to cover any faulties and you will need to pay for it when it gets to the docks in Hing Kong.

I know 3 people who have tried this, very experienced in their fields and have lost everything :-(

Leading up to my retirement from my day job I started an eBay business that quickly grew into a 10 hour a month / £600 net profit enterprise. I've let a mate have the business as I'm moving abroad in less than two weeks.

I put the eBay slush fund into stocks and shares and in the last month I've added 10% to their value buying and selling penny shares. Sometimes I sell them the same day, riding the upward trend and flogging before the dip.

Use your loaf. There is plenty of opertunity out there.

There is poacher, it's just a matter of getting in and out at the right time.

My best mates family were all fruit and veg men, as frozen food started to come in during the 70s, they embraced it rather than fearing it and now have an international empire.

Every change, decade and century brings its opportunities

But would bloody love to. Anyone got any tips or ideas to get me started on a home business to get me away from manual labour. I know its like asking for free gold but maybe someone could give me a little spark. Thanks.

Perhaps you could try counselling?

Are people born gay or do they become gay? Thats the question. I often hear gays talking about being 'born gay'. I must admit i dont believe it and there is absolutely no evidence of a 'gay gene'. I think things happen during the upbringing of a man and maybe confusion sets in, or a fear of women or something. I am pretty sure that its akin to a mental state like for example anorexia develops due to a mental state, which then manifests itself as an anxiety towards food. If people want to be gay then thats up to them and i know quite a few gay people and several have been with women but prefer men.

The reason i think its a choice is because the amount of people who say they are gay seems enormous and i just cant believe that so many people are wired this way. If this post offends then i apologise but maybe the forum could be the place to convince me otherwise.

I've been selling online for about 12 years, used to be a licence to print money, but not now. <_<

Different game now, but we're still there and still making a living, but not a good one. I'm not sure whether it's got any more competitive, probably has. The main thing that ****** me was Google becoming totally dominant and then making it hard to game the search results (in competitive industries).

Depends what you do. If you set up a business selling stained glass lampshades, you can get your site onto page 1 in no time, but if it's in a competitive industry with lots of players, it's become a nightmare

Now now ladies!

UKP...what does "puratory" actually mean?

It's a typo mate. It should be purgatory and Wicki gives the definition; Purgatory is the condition or process of purification or temporary punishment[ If you've lived in Sheffield you'd know that I was referring to the latter ;)

Fortunately I'm outahere a week on Sunday. :)

Thats actually one of the big markets on the internet and one of the most competitive. But to succeed you have to be right up at the dodgy end and trading out of Holland or somewhere offshore. Liable to get your front door smashed in at 6am in the morning by police if you try it here. Even then you will get visits from heavies telling you to back off because their boss doesn't like what you are doing.

If you are right up at the dodgy end you could get your back doors kicked in too...

Should maybe avoid this one!

Which brings us to a full circle

Where i work there is a little section which is the bosses retirement fund, its a little company that specialises in things for schools science departments. Tungsten wire, polarising films all that sort of stuff the sales are all internet based but the way they make there money is investing in stock. My boss will buy a pallet of literally **** as its cheap and normally finds something worth keeping which he lists and sells. Only problem is he does not throw out the rubbish stuff so part of my stores are taken up with pallets no one will ever buy.
