39TDS
My missus goes a bit wobbly when she finds them in the washing machine. I would avoid it if I were you.
hedd-wyn
It might sound daft to some, but I remember reading an article about this in an airgun magazine many years ago. It told you to put a hand full of pellets into a jar with warm water and washing up liquid then gently shake, then let them dry by heater or radiator. It stated that pellets straight from the tin contained lose particles of lead and if you washed them off it would get better results from your pellet. I must admit I did try it, but you are talking YEARS ago, but couldn't tell you if it worked or not... probably not, or I would still be doing it now. Shropshire_Lad
Have done it all over the years, washed, lubed weighed e.t.c. well you have to don't you? Only way to be sure in your own mind is to give it a go
Dekers
I'm totally convinced this is all in the shooters mind, historically (a long time ago) I have washed, and also lubed pellets, god knows why, and I'll never bother again. Apart from the pain, "be careful, don't damage the skirt, oh look there is calcium on the pellets from the hard water", ***k me what a palaver and waste of time! You have 12 ft lb, find the pellet that works for you and the rifle, and get on with it, forget all this silliness. If you really want to be an anorak get the scales out and weigh each pellet, and the micrometer and measure them, then check them all for head and skirt damage, by which time you quarry has died of old age! SHhhh! I did weigh them too I realy think it is something you have to get out of your system so you can move on and enjoy shooting pellets straight from a tin once more, just like when you were a lad
tinytim38
get an FAC and buy a rimfire, you wont look back
durbsguy
Yep! always have done, i use washing up liquid in warm water, roll them gently in a plastic sieve and then rinse in clean water, dry off on some paper kitchen towel and warm with a hairdryer. Some don't like using washing up liquid because of the salt content but i'm still to be convinced it transfers to the barrel, there's ultrasonic baths and such that you can buy. By the way most pellets that look dirty such as prems they are coated in graphite dust as a substitute for lube
bedwards1966
get an FAC and buy a rimfire, you wont look back +1 ! Instead of worrying about gaining that extra 0.1 ft/lb to get to the mighty 11.9, just get something that will do 100 ft/lb or more without effort! Shropshire_Lad
I will add I would never be with out an airgun, looking back at records a friend and I shot over a thousand Rabbits in one year during the late eighties with both fac and sub 12flbs air. A £1.00 each helped a lot while my nippers were little. atvb Paul.
