il cacciatore
It has to be asked. If you were buying a .22lr what action would you go for? ps - I dont want anyone telling me not to buy a .22lr but to go for a .17 hmr I've made my mind up. elowarr
Just bought a CZ .22 American bolt action, it's very smooth in operation and I think quieter I tried a semi auto but to me it seemed jerky and noisey also I found that when the spent case was ejected I was getting some debris in my eyes. Another thing with the bolt action is that you can leave a spent case in the gun until you are ready to take another shot . With the semi once you have fired it has chambered another round ready to go. Before anyone mentions it yes I know they all have saftey catches and they must be used at all times but people do forget sometimes and with a bolt action with a spent case left in even if the saftey has not been engaged theres no chance of a mishap. shooterash
Hi il cacciatorewould i go for a bolt action only because it will have a better selling chance when you decided to go down the 17Hmr route not really i have owned quite a few 22lr and never had a problem with a bolt action one, i suppose there is more to go rong with a semi auto Cheers Ash
Dunkield
BA every time, and there is nothing wrong with .22's, .17's have there uses like every other calibre, but they ain't the be all and end all some would have you believe . . Get a Quad and you can also have the .17HMR you just know you will end up with.
crieffy
If I had to choose only one, it would be a semi. For some of the areas I shoot, a bolt action is just too slow.
Sussexboy
I own both a B/A and a semi. I would always take the B/A as a hunting rifle. From a health and safety point of view the risks are much less of an accident occurring. But apart from all that old gumf it is just much nicer to use IMO. il cacciatore
Come on, who voted pump action? Thought that semis are just as reliable if you keep them cleaned and just as accurate as a bolt action.
