Wildfowler12
Whats the heaviest load I can use in my gun?Gun details.. Cam:70mm - 2 3/4" 18.3 Bore Diameter KG1. 530 Pressure Thanks I think KG1.530 is just a weight measurement for the barrels, ie 1.53KG? Not 100% though
dan-250
I'd guess that's the barrel weight too. I have 1 tested for 900kg and another tested at 1350kg. I think that's per inch. You can't get massive carts for a 70mm chamber so at another guess I'd say any that will fit in should be ok., don't be finding magnum loads fit in then fire them tho As your chambers are too small. What are you trying to fire through it ? Or planning on ?
Guest cookoff013
42g loads i thingk.
HDAV
Likely the biggest 2 3/4 load they make as they have to match the cart loading to the proof and there is only one proof for 2 3/4" IIRC
wymberley
Heaven help us! Yep, go with the barrel weight as a distinct possibility. Is it Italian? If it is proofed in KG, it'll be sqcms not inches. If you don't know, ask your RFD or gunsmith. Do not rely on anything (including this, except the last comment re RFD) you read on here. Cam:70mm - 2 3/4" 18.3 Bore Diameter KG1. 530 Pressure Thanks as its marked 70mm chamber the it should be proofed for all 12-70 marked carts 12-2 ¾" 3 ¼ tons can use CIP approved cartridges marked 12-70taken from BASC guide, Learn to read tot he proof marks, while checking with a pro is the best bet learn yourself, while you may be able to sue them if it all goes wrong thats too late...... Haven't put any thing heavy through it yet was just looking for advice as I've been told the heavier the better for goose.
wymberley
Again, I'm not certain, but I think HDAV (ergo BASC) is correct with regard to the latest legislation. Quick question, how old is the gun in question and when was it proofed?

You have the options of Lead (illegal to use but check specific loacal legislatio), non Toxic lead replacements, eye watering expensive! Or steel, a total nightmare when it comes to proof marks etc. I have tried many times and still dont get it and I have 3" chambered Steel proofed Gun! Quick question, how old is the gun in question and when was it proofed? It's marked AH so a check shows 1981 it's a Parker hale o/u not sure how to check when it was proofed. I'm guessing 1981 :-)

This, of course, is unsafe.

Al69ec
I no I can only put 70mm carts in it. It's the heavy loads that's troubling me. Do heavy loads generate more pressure than small ones?

Don`t worry about pressures, just don`t use mini-magnum type cartridges. 42gm 70mm loads from gamebore etc will be fine.......but may rattle your fillings
