ayano3
I decided that after I had got all the outstanding jobs that needed doing I would load up the pigeon gear..incidentally I now use an old fishing box and trolley for all my gear....and take a look at a couple of fields where that I have been watching as there was quite a few pigeons in that area. The first field of rape I got to (about 1 30pm) had quite a few birds at the bottom end and lots sitting in the trees, I though I could be in for a bit of sport here so after a while watching flight lines etc I set up in the bottom of the dyke between two of the trees. I took my first shot soon after and had the first bird in the bag. I then had to stop shooting as the crop sprayer arrived! 20 minutes later I was set up again but although there was pigeons about they were just not interested in coming into the trees or decoys. Half a flask of coffee later I decided I was wasting my time here. Up sticks and move about 5 miles away to field no2. This looked even better, this is one of our small spinneys with rape fields surrounding it and last seasons remaining cover. Again I sat and watched for a while before setting off down the conversation strip. I decided I would just get a position in the wood as all the birds were heading there before dropping onto the field. It was not long before the birds come back, the first to come within range was a missed, the dog looked at me as to say you useless ****. She didnt need words for me to know what she meant Anyway I upped my game and soon had a few woodies in the bag, plus one quite high crow that come just in range. I had three left & rights with my AYA no4, Its great for roosing and decoying as it's only 26" barrels and bored imp/imp. I shot with Eley Firsts 28g 7.5s and finished up with a total of 20 Pigeons and the Crow. Sorry I have no pictures but only had my phone with me and the camera is no good and it was almost dark when I finished.

ayano3
Thanks guys, it was a frustrating start but ended quite well. A bonus is I shot well and didnt miss many so the bird-cartridge ratio was pretty good yesterday, not that it bothers me, and its not always that good. Another bonus is the birds are still making 30p as its usually far less by now . Nice going mate. Sounds like a fun day was had! Where abouts are you? I'm near Stamford. Sent you a PM
