bazzashadow
hi thinking of buying a nissan x-trial has anyone got any pro and cons thanks
Beardo
Had mine for a couple of months now, absolutely loving it, not tried anything hardcore off road but what's I've tried it's coped well and it cracking on road. Averaged 34mpg on first tank. Finding decent offroad tyres is difficult if you have one with 17" wheels.

shaun4860
Ive had 2 First 2003 112BHP diesel, 35+ round the doors, 45MPG on a run Second 2007 136BHP diesel, very low 30s round the doors, high 30s on a run Both are a joy to drive, comfy, loads of room, not a serious off roader but fine for fields and stuff, avoid heavy mud, it will get stuck Dont believe all you hear about iffy turbo's, i put 30k on my first one, only thing i neded was a new air flow meter, second one needed a wheel bearing, NEITHER had turbo issues. As Nick has said you will struggle to get off road tyres for the 17" rims (215/60/17) 16" are fine (215/65/16) Road tax on both was £245 a year although it might have gone up a bit now? bode.boden
i have a 06 xtrail yes i have replaced turbo mine as done 110 thou and i bleave it was my fault for thrashing it in low gear i love my xtrail i had no prob with mine in winter mine is 2.2 turbo diesel i have not done any serious of roading but being a shooter and fisherman i have taken it cross muddy fields with no prob only negative i can find it is all elec but no front screen defroster :good:
Beardo
as with any turbo, if you thrash it when it's cold you really are asking for trouble - let it warm up before giving it high revs and you should be fine
shaun4860
"trial" is a fairly good description of my ownership experience funnily enough. Thing is, if you have had an iffy car, no matter what make, you will always have a downer on them. If you had bought a Rav 4 and the same happened then thats the car you would have the downer on. I loved both my xtrails
Wildfowler12
I loved mine, it developed gearbox trouble at around 110k and had to go. I miss it...

Nissans are know for having small bearings in their gearboxes, but all vehicles are designed to last ten years or 100k, so you got 10% extra. wymberley
as with any turbo, if you thrash it when it's cold you really are asking for trouble - let it warm up before giving it high revs and you should be fine Just spotted the thread which is now probably defunct, but just in case, - also allow any high revs to stabilize down to idle speed before switching the engine off.
