CZ550Kevlar
I`m sure this will get an answer, i`m looking for a tree surgeon to give me a quote on removing a large tree growing between my rear boundary fence and the road, i`ve had searches done and been told this bit of land belongs to nobody, its about 4 metres wide and the tree is growing at a dangerous 45 deg angle and being choked by ivy and dead branches keep falling off onto my daughters playhouse. I`m planning on doing what everyone else is doing and removing the trees and moving my boundary to claim the land as mine. if you need photos etc i can send them. I won’t recommend the lads we saw yesterday! They were trimming up a very large willow tree on the front of the farm…..crack…..bang, straight through his windscreen of their cherry picker. The best of it was the guy who did it was in the basket and he cut the limb off TEH

spiderlegs
im a treesurgeon but im a bit far from your neck of the woods. if the land doesnt belong to you, you shouldnt have to pay to have it felled and its technically illegal felling a tree that isnt yours. if its as bad as you say and over a road the council will take it down and it wont cost you anything. phone them up and quote dead dying and dangerouse act. then just claim the land later they almost never do anything about it. dont fell it without checking for a TPO or you could be up for a big fine! if your worried about the deadwood just have a treesurgeon deadwood it as this should be fairly cheap and no need to check for a TPO if your only cutting dead wood. if you need any more help just PM me. Checked with the Council and there is no TPO, they have no register of who owns the land, Land registry searches came back with no trace, the tree is in the grass verge but the highways department say the verge doesn`t belong to them and as the tree is leaning towards our gardens and away from the road they have no interest in it. sooooooo if it finally comes down and squashes mine and my neighbors shed it`s nobody responsibility. As it needs sorting i might as well get a cost of completely removing it and forming some nice rear off street parking. spiderlegs
fair enough if theres no TPO and the council deny its thiers (id want this in writing from your areas tree officer) you should be in the clear. any company thats part of the arb association should be a good bet like corgi registerd but for treesurgeons. good luck. Being part of the arb association is nothing like being corgi registered. It's not a requirement, it's a club you can join if you want to pay £500 a year for a few stickers and a link to your website. I've worked for arb association approved contractors and non approved contractors and there is no difference in quality in fact the best companies I've worked with are small one man bands. Exactly the reason i posted on here, working on the railway for 10 years as an engineer and dealing with vegetation contractors, one of which is probably the biggest in the country, flashy signs and bits of paper mean nothing when you see them work it changes your opinion. I have made couple of calls and left some messages and got 3 coming round to quote so i can extend my garden by about 75 square metres.
